DESCRIPTION:Join facilitators Drs. Susan Lord\, Mathew Ohland and Michael Prince August 8-10\, 2022 at Purdue University for NETI-1. Participants receive instruction and hands-on practice in the elements of effective teaching—motivating students\, course planning\, effective lecturing\, active learning\, inclusive teaching\, assessment of learning\, and dealing with the variety of problems that commonly arise in the life of a faculty member. In addition to the workshop content\, you can look forward to breakfast and lunch all three days in addition to a reception on the first night where you will have the opportunity to network with the facilitators and your co-attendees. \nParticipants will receive information regarding the hotel block reserved at $209 per night upon registration.

SUMMARY:NETI-2 Student Teams and Advanced Student Engagement.
DESCRIPTION:Drs. Susan Lord\, Michael Prince and Matthew Ohland will facilitate the NETI-2 workshop in June of 2023. Exact Dates and Location TBA \nNETI-2 is designed for engineering and other STEM instructors who are already familiar with the topics of NETI-1 and are looking for more advanced active learning strategies to engage students at a higher level. The first half of the workshop focuses on cooperative learning and teamwork including how to form\, manage\, and assess student teams. The second half of the workshop prepares faculty to adopt inquiry-based instruction and problem-based learning. Participants are introduced to a range of inquiry-based teaching methods and given the time and support needed to tailor this approach to their own classes.
